I love to travel. I prefer places
with value—either historical, cultural or religious per se, like century old
churches, heritage houses, monuments and long-forgotten structures. These places breath; and the memories
accumulated through its existence gave them spirits—literally and categorically
speaking. Old places usually referred to
as haunted. Contrary to the beliefs that spirits normally inhabited theses
places, they actually don’t. Spirits do not resides in a particular place
however, their memories are. Spirits have no concept of time and space. They
can travel anywhere and in any period of time they wish. What was left in these
places they once settled are their emotions, thoughts and memories called the memory
imprints. These imprints can manifest particularly if it’s strong. Apparently,
even those who are alive can leave imprints in a particular place. This is
the reason why you can feel the gloominess in public buildings like city halls,
hospitals and even churches.

Saved By the Spirit of the "King of Kundiman"
Seeing, sensing and hearing unseen forces or elements such as spirits is not new to me. What I'm not expecting is to be saved by one of them. The incident happens four years ago.
That night, I felt asleep in our attic and had this out-of-body experience. At astral, I saw that the attic is on fire. Much to my surprise, I can't come back. I'm totally lost.
From nowhere, a man whispered to my left ear saying, "Ako si Ric Manrique. Bumalik ka pa, hindi mo pa panahon!" (I'm Ric Manrique. Just go back, this not your time yet). Suddenly, I woke up.
I have no idea about Ric Manrique that time, so I googled his name and found out that he's the King of Kundiman during the 60's. I also discovered that he resided in Bulacan up to his death.
I lit a candle for him and say my prayers.
I become his instant fan.
Thank you, Ric Manrique, for saving my life.
